I do some small painting projects, gunsmith projects, small screws/parts mostly, although I have used durakote and cerakote with an HVLP sprayer, I bought a Hassle develop 350 air brush for the smaller projects.I figured for the amount of time and trouble using a document cone paint filter buying one of these would be a good tradeoff.Well, sort of.First, the hole in the red cap had to be enlarged to some extent to fit the nylon (teflon?) tube in the paint jar that plugs into the airbrush soubriquet. Fortunately I had a box of step-sized drill bits and a vernier dial caliper to rate the OD of the tubing. Hole drilled, red cap slid on - a little tightly so it would stay in place while fitting the screen - I put the screen in place and assembled the paint jar.Didn't fit. Here's the thing. I WANT to use as much of the paint as doable. This means the pick up tube must come very accurate to the bottom of the jar. That dark ring you see to the left, opposite the red cap end, forces the screen, hence the pick up tube to sit up off the bottom of the jar several mm. Fortunately I have a dremel tool and emory cold discs I then used to:1 - shorten the overall length of the screen height from the TOP and2 - cut off a few mm from the BOTTOM of the screen, forcing the bottom of the pickup tube just a bit closer the bottom of the jar.Fits, works, cleanup is SO easy - you just word some MEK or no matter what in the money you're using into the jar which cleans the screen and finish cleaning the sprayer your usual way.I reflect it's value the little bit of extra effort to make this fit.Too bad it doesn't come from the factory this way, but it's small, fits in the airbrush box, does what it's supposed to, and you don't have to use the document cone paint filters and deal with THAT mess. That's why the ratings. It's not as much fun as it COULD be, but it definitely has some learning regard.Maybe I can use them someday for catching kidney stones or something...
